For our new Cloud Rendering Lab in Zurich, we are looking for a high caliber:
(Senior) Research Engineer in Computer Graphics/Rendering Algorithms
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for researching the application of (real-time) rendering algorithms to the cloud setting, developing algorithms to scale image generation and reducing image generation costs in different settings.
- Analysis of academic papers and implementation of the knowledge of the latest rendering algorithms in the industry.
- Modeling of rendering algorithms by modifying a suitable algorithm model (including the innovativeness of the original algorithm).
Requirements & qualifications:
- PhD or BSc/MSc with few years of experience in computer science or other domain-related disciplines (e.g. Computer Graphics related majors).
- Familiar with rendering algorithms, including: ray tracing, path tracer, BSDF optimization, importance sampling, Many lights algorithms (VPL), BVH, KDTree acceleration algorithms, multi-view rendering, VR, Micropolygon rendering etc.
- Familiar with writing code in C++, OpenGL, Vulkan, Shader and Compute languages and other interfaces, MPI parallel interface are considered a plus.
- Working with different material models, animation systems, virtual human models, expression and skin rendering are considered a bonus.
- Ability to read academic papers, write patents, and communicate with external experts, along with experience in community development and maintenance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, team-work spirit, and independent working capability.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Nice to Have:
- Ideally you bring experience with open source softwares like Mitsuba, Embree or game engines like UE, Unity, or O3DE.
