With 28 sites across Europe and 2000 researchers, Huawei’s European Research Institute (ERI) oversees fundamental and applied technology research, academic research cooperation projects, and strategic technical planning across our network of European R&D facilities. Huawei’s ERI includes the new Zurich Research Centre (ZRC), located in Zurich, Switzerland. A major element of ZRC is a new research laboratory focused on research in the area of computing systems (new computing and storage hardware, new software, new algorithms).
The research work of the lab will be carried out not only by Huawei’s internal research staff but also by our academic research partners in universities across Europe. The lab will provide an “open research environment” where academics will be encouraged to visit and work on fundamental long-term research alongside Huawei staff in an environment that, like the best universities and research institutes, is open and conducive to such scientific work.
One of the directions of this new ZRC Laboratory is research on future storage systems. Huawei storage products focus on All Flash, All Cloud, and All Intelligence strategies, and we provide a wide portfolio of storage products to help customers meet storage demands brought by rapid business growth. We serve more than 8,000 customers in over 150 countries around the world, and have been named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Arrays for two consecutive years. We have established joint laboratories with the world's top universities and research institutes to develop new storage technologies, and have also worked with worldwide partners to provide storage solutions across various industries.
For the new ZRC Laboratory, we are seeking candidates for research on future storage systems. Specifically, we are seeking a highly motivated research engineer to join our team and work on cutting-edge computer architecture and storage system research projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer engineering, with expertise in computer architecture, storage systems, and hardware-software co-design. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for next-generation computing systems.
For the new ZRC Laboratory, we are seeking candidates for research on future storage systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on computer architecture and storage systems, and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Design and develop novel hardware and software solutions to optimize computer system performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and researchers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Develop and implement simulation and modeling tools to evaluate system performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research trends and technologies in computer architecture and storage systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in successful product development in storage system domain.
- Strong background in computer architecture, storage systems, and hardware-software co-design.
- Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present research results to technical and non-technical audiences.
