For our new Cloud Computing and Data Management Lab in Zurich, we are looking for a high caliber:
Research/Software Engineer Intern – Chaos Engineering (m/f/d)
In collaboration with SRE Lab in Dublin we have number of projects in many R&D areas but not limited to:
- Heterogeneous hardware O&M.
- System-level service fault fast recovery.
- Large-scale network O&M technology.
SRE Lab was established in Dublin in 2019 to fulfil the increasing demand of O&M business, and aiming to be the Cloud Data Centre of Huawei in Europe. Core services of SRE lab currently focus on the research of automated and intelligent O&M technologies that would support Cloud Business Unit (BU) to reach over a millions of server in a single region.
Our objective is to build more stable, reliable, secure, scalable and trustworthy public cloud, and provide fundamental components, common infrastructure, and generic services across departments. To achieve that, we are looking for a number of skilled engineering interns to join one of our project teams interested in the following areas:
- Big Data
- Analyzing and exploring data
- Expertise in statistics
- Analyzing and visualizing data
- Reports and dashboards
You will be key member of a team of experts to design and implement the core of key component in Huawei Cloud with engineering support from HQ. You will contribute and share technical ownership of core features, efficiency and availability improvement and delivery. You will participate discussions and contribute on tradeoffs, solutions for bottlenecks and code reviews. You will work with domain experts and be part of a distributed team working together to achieve common goal.

Key responsibilities:
- Research, develop and implement efficient anomalies detection and correlation analysis for multiple simultaneous timeseries at scale;
- Contribute to the innovative development of the Huawei’s Chaos Engineering and Monitoring platforms;
- Define software requirements and guide the entire prototyping and agile software end-to-end life-cycle, and make decisions to realize the key technical solutions.
Requirements & qualifications:
- BSc, MSc or PhD in computer science or other domain-related disciplines, degree background in statistics or data
- Strong understanding of Statistics, Linear Algebra, Optimization, AI, ML.
- Proficiency in one of the following programming languages C, C++, Go, Java, and Python
- Very good understanding of cloud technologies microservices, serverless, and cloud-native
- Ability and willingness to solve challenging engineer problems and learn new domains
- It would be ideal to have some (1+ years) industry working experience as a developer in any kind of a software company.
